I have made the Palak Pulao in a pressure cooker, you can make it in a thick bottom vessel also if you make the Spinach pulao in a vessel then reduce the amount of water, and also cover the lid of vessel properly which will help to cook the pulao in less time.

  • Basmati rice 1 cup
  • Spinach 1 cup
  • Ghee 2 tsp
  • Oil 2 tsp
  • Cinnamon 1
  • Cloves 5
  • Cardamom 2
  • Whole peppercorn 4
  • Bay leaves 2
  • Star anise 1
  • Onion 1
  • Green chillies 2
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • Kashmiri red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala powder 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste.

Tips for cooking Palak Pulao in a pressure cooker at home

  • Make use of fresh Spinach leaves.
  • If you don’t like more whole spices then you can reduce the quantity.
  • Add green chillies as per how spicy you eat.

 

Process before cooking the Spinach Pulao 

  • Rinse the basmati rice in clean water.
  • And then soak the basmati rice for 15 minutes before cooking.
  • Then drain the water from rice and keep it aside.
  • Now rinse the Spinach leaves nicely and Chop the leaves.
  • Chop onions.

Process for cooking Palak Pulao in a pressure cooker at home

1. Chop one bunch of fresh spinach leaves.

2. Now we will take a pressure cooker, add 2 tsp of ghee.

3. Then add 2 tsp of oil.

4. Add 1 Cinnamon, 5 Cloves, 2 Cardamom.

5. Then add 4 Whole peppercorn, 2 Bay leaves,  1 Star anise.

6. Add 1 finely chopped onion.

7. Saute the onions for 2 minutes, then add 2 slit green chillies.

8.  Saute for a minute, add 1 tsp of ginger garlic paste.

9. Then add 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder.

10. Add 1 tsp of Kashmiri red chilli powder and coriander powder.

11. Now add 1 tsp of cumin powder and garam masala powder.

12. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.

13. Then add the chopped spinach leaves.

14. Mix it, add 1 tsp of salt.

15. Add 1 cup of soaked Basmati rice.

16. Mix gently all together.

17. Then add 2 cups of water, adjust the water as required.

18. Now close the lid and cook until 2 whistles.

19. After 2 whistle switch off the flame and let the rice rest for 15 minutes.

The Spinach Pulao is ready to serve.

  • Palak 2 cups
  • Paneer 200 g
  • Basmati rice 1.5 cups

  • Green peas 1 cup

  • Green chillies

  • Cardamom 2
  • Cinnamon 1
  • Salt to taste
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp

Tips to make Palak Paneer Pulao at home

  • Make use of fresh spinach leaves.

  • After 20 minutes drain the water from rice and keep it aside.

1. Take a blender, add 5 garlic cloves, 3 green chillies, garlic peace.

2. Add 2 cups of spinach and 2 tbsp of water.

3. Now blend this into a fine paste.

1. Take a pan, add 4 tbsp of oil.

2. Add the whole spices, 2 bay leaves, 2 cardamoms, 1 cinnamon.

3. Saute this for a minute.

4. Add 1 tsp cumin seeds and sliced onion.

5. Then add a pinch of salt, cook until the onions are golden brown.

6. Now add the blended paste into the pan.

7. Add salt as per taste, 2 tsp of red chilli powder.

8. Then add 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder, garam masala powder.

9. Now cook the spinach mixture on a medium flame for 5 minutes.

10. Then add the paneer cube’s, and green peas.

11. Mix it well all together.

12. Now add the soaked basmati rice and 1.5 cups of water.
( Adjust the water as required)

13. Mix the rice gently, make sure you won’t break the rice.

14. Cover the lid of the pan and cook for 5 minutes on medium flame.
( Stir in between)

15. Then turn the flame low and cook for 10 minutes.

16. After 10 minutes turn the flame off and let the rice rest for 5 minutes.

The Spinach Paneer Pulao is ready to serve.

1. Take a pan, add 2 tbsp of oil.

2. Add 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds.

3. Then add 4 cloves of garlic chopped, saute for a minute.

4. Add 1 finely chopped onion, cook, until the onion is transparent.

5. Once onions are soft, add 2 diced potatoes.

6. Now cover the lid and cook on low flame for 5 minutes.

7. Then open the lid and add 1 chopped tomato.

8. Add 2 chopped green chillies and salt to taste.

9. Mix it well and again cover the lid and cook until the potatoes are completely cooked.

10. Now add 1 tsp of coriander powder and 1/2 tsp of red chilli powder.

11. Add 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder and 1 tsp of chilli flakes.

12. Now add the chopped spinach leaves.

13. Cover the lid and cook for 3 minutes on medium flame.

14. Open the lid and mix the spinach nicely.

15. Again cover the lid and cook for another 2 minutes on low flame.

16. Open the lid after 2 minutes and cook the Aloo Palak until all the moisture is evaporated.

17. Once the moisture is evaporated and oil is separated from the aloo spinach turn off the flame.

The sabji is ready to serve.
