Poha is Origen in India around 1890s. It is made from rice (the rice is flat or we can say plan ) the rice is dried. It is eaten as breakfast or as a snack. mostly it is made in Maharashtra, it is very simple and easy to make the dish, and it doesn’t require much time to cook(make). Poha is a dish that can be made in various ways and also can be served in many ways. It is a dish which is very popular and eaten every day. It is given to the children in their lunch-box also.

In Maharashtra culture when the boy and his family goes to see a girl at her place (house), they serve Poha to them. On-street anywhere we can have it with tea. In the college canteen also we get to see students enjoying their Poha and tea, with their friends.

In my college canteen I used to get it in a different way, they used to serve the plane Poha on top of that add Sev and sambar on side. The combination of sambar with it was really very nice. some shops serve it with Sev on the top with tea.

1) The recipe for cooking simple Kanda Poha.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Cups Poha
  • 1 no Onion fine chop
  • 5-6 no Chillies chop
  • 10-12 no Curry leaves
  • ½ tsp Turmeric powder
  • salt
  • Handful of Peanuts

  • 4-5 tsp Oil

Preparation time:

1. Preparation time is a time which is utilised before cooking the dish

2. So now in the preparation time, we have to first soak the Poha in water and drain the water so that it won’t get sticky,

3. It is soaked so that it will become soft

4. We will also chop onions, chili, and some coriander leaves in preparation time.

5. We will also fry the peanuts in oil so that it will become crispy, and will not taste uncooked.

 

Process:

1.  For cooking (making) Poha, we need to first soak it in water.

2. Soak it means that take Poha in a vessel how much you need and pour some water in it then drain the water from that Poha, it should be done instantly.

Note: if you will, not drain the water from it then it will stick with each other it will not taste good.

3. After draining the water from it then add turmeric powder and salt in it.

4. Mix this slowly.

5. In one vessel add some oil, then add peanuts in it, fry the peanuts till it’s brown, take out the peanuts from the oil in one bowl once it’s browned.

6. Chop some onions, take one vessel in which you want to cook it, add some oil in it.

7. Add the chopped onions to the oil, the onions should get brown.

8. Then add curry leaves, chopped chillies and let it fry.

9. Add the fried peanuts in it, after adding nuts in it then add the mixed Poha, mix it welL.

10. Mix it slowly so that the Poha won’t break, add some chopped coriander leaves in it.

11. Then cover the vessels, and let them cook for 5 minutes on low flame.

  It is ready to serve with lemon.

3. Drain the water then add trimeric powder and salt then mix it well.

4. Chop some potato then add a little bit of salt it in the mix it.

5. Then fry this chopped potato, till it’s brown, once it’s properly fried then remove it from oil keep this aside.

6. Chop onions, take a vessel, add some oil.

6. Then add the onions in it then let the onions get brown, once the onions are fried (cooked) properly.

7. Add curry leaves in it, then add chopped chillies in it and let it cook, if you want you can add fried peanuts.

8. Then add the fried potatoes in it mix it then add the soak Poha in it mix it well.

9. Add chopped coriander leaves then cover the lead and let it cook for 4 to 5 minutes.

Your recipe is ready to eat.

You can serve it with lemon and also with Sev on the top of it.

It is liked by everyone because of its unique taste, the Indori poha gets its unique taste because of the different, different spices and the trick by which it is made. It is served with hot tea, the Poha is also served with some Indori Sev on top of it, some add some pomegranate also lemon and chopped onions with it. The most unique way of serving it is that it is also served with Jalebi.

Now we’ll cook the most famous Indori Poha,
1. Add 2 teaspoons of oil, let it heat.

2. Then add peanuts in it, once it starts breaking it means that it has been fried then we will remove the peanuts from the oil.

3. The secret of the Indori Poha is the spices add to it. So now in the oil, we will add some coriander seeds.

4. A little bit of Fennel, bay leaf, mustard seeds cook it well.

5. Then add curry leaves, then add one chopped chill in it.

6. Add one Finley chopped onion, let the onion get brown.

7. Then add salt to taste, add half a teaspoon of turmeric powder.

8. Add a little bit of sugar then add Greenpeace mix it well.

9. Then add soaked Poha in the mixture, mix this very well then cover the lead for 2 to 3 minutes.

10. open the lead then mix it well and then add the fried peanuts.

Your Recipe is ready.

 

Tips for serving the Indori Poha:

1. Now remove it in one bowl, we will add some more spices in this which is the main part of the  Indori Poha.

2. Add Girawan a little bit then add Indori Sev on the top of it(if you don’t have Indori Sev then you can add some other Sev).

3. Then add pomegranate, a little bit of chopped onion.

4. Add chopped coriander leaves and sprinkle some lemon juice on it.
