Ghavan Recipe
Ghavan Recipe is made in two ways. Ghavan is also known as Neer dosa, Pan pole.
It is a traditional breakfast, it is made with rice or brown rice flour, water, salt to taste and some oil to apply the pan.
This recipe is mostly made in Maharashtra and popular as Konkan dish.
This recipe is an instant dish.
This recipe is also cooked as sweet by adding jaggery or sugar while making the batter.
The Ghavan recipe is served as a breakfast or as a snack.

Recipe Ingredients
- Rice flour 1 cup
- Salt to taste
- Water as required
- Oil.
Process
1. Take a bowl, add 1 cup of rice flour.
2. Add salt to taste.
3. Then add 1 glass of water.
4. Mix everything well.
5. Check the consistency of the batter.
6. If required add water, the batter should not have any lumps.
7. Now heat a pan, apply oil to it.
( You can make use of onion or coconut cover to spread the oil on the pan)
8. When the pan is heated properly and the temperature is high, turn the flame medium.
9. Now with the help of a big spoon spread the rice batter.
10. Do not spread the batter thick, it should be thin.
11. Let it cook for 2 minutes, then flip it.
12. Then let it cook for a minute from the other side.
13. Transfer it to a plate, the recipe is ready to serve.

Serve the dish with coconut chutney, potato sabji (batata chi bhaji), blended che bhaji or with hot tea.

Tips for making the recipe
- You can use any variety of rice, don’t use Basmati rice or Ukade rice.
- If you use Basmati rice or Ukade rice it may get sticky.
- Whenever you spread the batter, apply oil to the pan.
- And also mix the batter, before using the batter.
- Check the batter consistency, it should not be thick or extra thin.
Process before cooking the recipe
- Take a bowl, add 1 cup of rice.
- Wash the rice with water and drain the water.
- Follow this step 2 to 3 times.
- Then add enough water and soak it for a nite.
- Next day drain the water and add the soaked rice in a blender.
- Now add 1/2 cup of water and blend it to a fine paste.
- Transfer the blended paste in a bowl.
- Add more 2 cups of water, check the consistency.
- If the batter is thick then add required water.
- Add salt to taste, mix it well.
Main Process

Second way to cook Ghavan
Ingredients

Things should do when the ghavan stick to the pan
- If the ghavan stick to the pan, then remove the ghavan from pan.
- Do not use a spoon to scrape the surface of a pan or tawa.
- Then clean the surface of tawa with kitchen napkin or Onion.
- Once the surface of tawa is properly cleaned then apply some oil with brush, onion or coconut cover.
- Then keep the flame high and make it.
- Repeat the process if the ghavan sticks again.
Ghavan chutney recipe ( Coconut chutney)
Recipe Ingredients
- Coconut 1 cup
- Roasted chana dal 1/4 cup
- Green chillies 2
- Salt as per taste
- Water as needed
- Oil 2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds 1 tbsp
- Dry red chilli 2
- Curry leaves 5-6.
The process to make coconut chutney in a simple way
1. Take a blender, add grated coconut in it.
2. Then add roasted chana dal, green chillies, salt.
3. Now add a little bit of water and blend this mixture into a fine paste.
4. Transfer the paste into a bowl.
5. Take a vessel, add oil in it.
6. Then add mustard seeds, dry red chilli, and curry leaves.
7. Now put this tadka into the bowl of chutney.
(If the chutney is thick and you want then add water into the chutney while blending)
The Coconut chutney is ready.
Coconut chutney
Ingredients
- 1 cup Coconut
- 1/4 cup Roasted chana dal
- 2 no Green chillies
- as per taste Salt
- as needed Water
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 1 tbsp Mustard seeds
- 2 no Dry red chilli
- 5-6 no Curry leaves
